Retro Christmas

Merry Christmas to you.
This was such a cute little project from Mary's Christmas Eve SVG kit.
The first pic is the truck cut at original size.
The second one is the same file, but cut at 200%. You can see the size comparison.
I added greenery to both of the trees. And how about the adorable retro Santa and reindeer? The Graphic Fairy website has tons of printable items!  I cut them out and lined them all up in front of the Tree farm pick-up truck. It looks like Santa has a side business selling Christmas trees, and I think he delivers!
I think that's it for my Christmas projects. I can't believe it\s Christmas day tomorrow. I am working nights at the hospital all through the holiday so from me to you, have a joyful and safe season, and don't do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the Paramedics. Have a Holly Jolly one.

Pretty gift bag

Here's another gift bag from the Snowed-In Gift Bag SVGCuts.com kit. I did take pictures of it before I gave it away! (small victory)
I used Kaiserkraft paper for the panels and Carta Bella "All Bundled Up" paper for the base.
Thanks for stopping by.  See you soon...

Snowman Gift Bag

Here's a cute little project courtesy of SVGCuts.com The Snowed-In Gift Bag SVG kit was released last month and I had a blast making them. You can view the complete kit here.
I used a white shimmer paper for the head of the snowman, and Bo Bunny paper for the muffs and scarf. I embossed the scarf with the herringbone embossing folder from Tim Holtz because it was the closest thing I had to mimic knitted texture.
I have a couple more bags to show you, but I just realized that I gave one away already before taking a picture. oops. Oh well, guess I will have to make another one.

12 Tags of 2016 - December remix

welcome to December. Thank you for all the blog love last month. I was delighted to see my name on the winners list for the November remix.
Keeping up my format of 8x8 layouts, I had a lot of fun pulling this one together. You can check out the full detailed instructions over on Tim Holtz' blog here.

photo credit: image found on Pinterest, but the links lead to internet abyss. It seems to have originated from a site called Gant Christmas. I so love this photo.
I used the old greenery strip. I'm not sure if it's discontinued or not, but it's a great die. I love the size of the cut outs.
Shadow press fail. I couldn't get the words to emboss properly, so, whatever, I made it work anyway. ( a little messy, but I tried)
mini blueprints stamps for my tiles.

love the greenery strip!!! I added a burlap bow.  I had 2 little reindeer on my desk, so I added them to my layout.
thank you for letting me share my 12 layouts of 2016, I have the album constructed and I will show pics of that when I'm done.  Have a wonderful New Year.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 12

Merry Christmas my "Deers"
Here's a couple more snow globe cards. I was really into globes and animals this year.
The one above was cut out on my Silhouette machine (like the flamingo card from a few days ago)
And the one below was cut using the Creative Expressions die from Sue Wilson. I love how the cute little reindeer (Tim Holtz ideology) fit just right inside the treat cups.
Well my "deers", that brings us to the end of my 12 days of Christmas cards. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday time with friends and family.  Big hugs and warm wishes from me and my fur babies.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 11

A Geoffrey Allen tri-fold card
This one I designed in my Silhouette Studio software.  Instead of cutting and scoring by hand, I let the machine do all the work. (gotta love that)
These cute whimsical images are from artist Geoffrey Allen. I cut out the vehicles and used them in a few different ways, I made 5 of these cards, each one is a little different.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 10

A New York City winter shaker card.
This card features the fabulous artist Alexei Butirskiy
I used the snow globe die from creative-expressions.uk.com along with the treat cups that fit perfectly with the cut out.
A shimmery bow and poinsettia decorate the base of the snow globe.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 8

Box Cards!
I couldn't go all Christmas card making, without using my favorite  SVG site.
SVGCuts.com is my go to source for Silhouette projects. You can find the kit I used for these cards here.
I added my own personal touches to the original designs to make them rustic and fun
I used a few stamps and die cuts on the Cardinal card.
this one just has die cuts and punches added to it, as does the snowflake card below.
Same basic cut file, but 3 very different looks.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 7

A flamingo in a snow globe. Well, in this case, a "sand globe"
I did a bunch of globes this year. and this one is for the beach lovers out there.
Seeing how it is -20C around here, I am wishing for warmer, sun filled days.

The globe was cut on my silhouette machine.
The background was a cool effect using a semi glossy paper, distress inks and a water mister.
The poinsettia is from Spellbinders and the other dies I used are from...(I have no idea. I have been awake for 28 hours)

thanks for stopping in, I am going to bed. Hopefully to sleep for at least 6 hours. Night shifts...uggg

12 Days of Christmas - Day 6

Feliz Naughty Dog!

This one is for all you dog lovers out there. (I, myself, prefer dogs over people, due to the nature of my job)
It started with an SVGCuts box card. I used this kit. Then all the stamping, coloring, cutting and assembling took place.
oh those crazy dogs, they tore apart the Christmas tree.
The Christmas tree stamp (in the back) is from Stampendous (it's really old, so I don't know if you can even get it anymore). The "ribbon" is washi tape and the little plastic light bulbs I had in my stash for years, just waiting for the perfect project.
I gave this card to a wonderful co-worker who is even more dog crazy than me! I got a big hug from her and that is why I make all these projects. I enjoy the process of creating, and the reward/payoff  is to see the reaction from the receiver.
see you tomorrow!

12 Days of Christmas - Day 5

Here's another variation of the card I posted yesterday. This one has a rustic whimsical feel to it, plus, I just love that pic of Santa with his reindeer (I wonder where the other 6 wandered off to)
The Merry Christmas words were cut on the Silhouette then embossed with Red sparkle embossing powder. I am giving this card to my lovely neighbor. Her house is done in a farmhouse decor. I think it will match perfectly. Thanks for taking a look - see you soon.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 4

I am loving the way this card turned out. I was shopping on the Silhouette Design Store and saw the door card cut file.
I wanted to give the illusion of opening the beautiful wooden front doors and looking out into a winter wonderland. I printed a picture that I found on Pinterest here. (side note: I tried to find the original source of the photo, but it just led me to error pages. All I know is that it was from "Gant" Christmas)

My tried and true Martha Stewart punch created the wreaths on the front doors.
Can you see the jingle bell door knobs? Cute little detail.

Thanks for looking, see you tomorrow.

12 Days of Christmas -Day 3

"Seas & Greetings"
I wanted to do some fun tropical Christmas cards this year.  If you know me, I love doing the tropical artwork.
I designed the card on my Silhouette Studio software, using number of different cut files then pieced them all together. The finished card measures 6x6"
The flamingo stamp was something I bought a couple of weeks ago. It's a poly clear layering stamp from hero arts, you can see the set here
See you tomorrow for my 12 days of Christmas posts. Stay warm my friends.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 2

Believe in the magic of Christmas...
this card was actually pretty simple to put together. The photo was printed off and matted on 2 different colors of glitter card stock. The believe die (Heidi Swapp) was cut twice with the same glitter card stock

Disney and Christmas - 2 of my very favorite things.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 1

I am going to try and do my yearly 12 days of Christmas posts. I have been busy crafting and trashing my art space for a few weeks now, all while working night shifts since August. I feel very detached from the land of the living. thank goodness my fur babies have been so good letting me sleep during the day.
The first day of Christmas Posts features motorcycle Santa. He's all cool with dark shades and leather.
This was a cut file from the Silhouette Design store. I added some layers and glitter/flock accents.
I love Wink of Stella glitter pens. I have just about every color. They enhance the color but add a little sparkle to your card.
Santa needed something extra, so I added a merry Christmas cut file intertwined on the motorcycle.
It turned out pretty cute, I think

It's time for the December kit reveal at Urban Scrapbook. This month it features My Minds Eye "Comfort and Joy" collection. You can see all the wonderful layouts from the team throughout the month over at Urban Scrapbook's blog
Christmas layouts are always my very favorite. Love love love.
A 3D bow, lots of die cuts and the chipboard pieces make up this special holiday wreath featuring my lovely fur babies Chloe(L) and Roxy(R).
I used a bunch of dies from my stash, and the "go to" Martha Stewart punch.

Happy December everyone. Enjoy the splendor of the season! warm wishes...L@urie

12 Tags of 2016 Remix - November

November people! Where is the time going?  I am in full steam ahead Christmas mode around here, but I am sharing my 8x8 layout for the 12 tags of 2016. You can find the links and technique info over on Tim Holtz' blog here.
Thanks for taking the time to look...see you soon!

I added a strip of Scor tape along the side and bottom. It gave the cork letters something to stick to and then I poured distress glitter over the exposed adhesive.
