Once Upon an Eerie Tale

Hello again,

I had a lot of fun designing this project. I love my Silhouette machine and SVGCuts.com was hosting an Autumn Challenge using all of Mary's SVG files. It worked out great because the Urban Scrapbook's October kit was "make anything you want". Here is my submission for the SVGCuts.com Autumn Challenge...

The paper used was Graphic 45's " an Eerie Tale" as well as some plain black and yellow cardstock.  The wheels have Tim Holtz' mirror paper on the main circles

SVGCuts file kits used were:

Enchanted Autumn (Pumpkin Carriage)

Gothic Flourishes (bats, hat, sign, chains, headless horseman with pumpkin, side and front embellishments on carriage)

Maple Manor (cats)

The Sizzix Challenge

Hello and thanks for stopping by my Blog. I wanted to share a 12x12 layout that I created for the Sizzix Challenge. 

I loved the inspirational photo we were to use for our project. I was originally going to make a 3D item (which, if you know me, I am crazy passionate about) but the photo led me to a layout featuring it instead.

Free Spirit

Hello and welcome back,

I made this mixed media 12x12 collage just for fun.  I was inspired by the gorgeous stencil "Free Spirit" from Prima.

I colored her with Shinhan and Copic markers. Then I began to build the collage around her.

It is my homage to Finnabair. I was lucky enough to take her classes this summer. I learned so much from her and she is truly beautiful inside and out. Love you Anna!!

Here you can see the dimension of the pieces. I used real feathers on her hair decoration.

Time flies doesn't it? I really don't know where the years go. Anyway maybe I'm just getting old. When I was a kid, the summer seemed to go on forever, now as an adult, I want the time to slow down so I can enjoy hanging out and do nothing.  Anyway...I hope you enjoy my project. Let's have a look...

Those who know me, know that I absolutely love 3D projects. I have been working on this clock for a while. I was a cutting, layering fool. And for some reason my photos really weren't capturing the whole project very well, so apologies for the pics being a bit over exposed in places. (Grrrr)

Here is the inside view, lots of layered gears.

Here is a better view of the birds in flight wrapping around the clock. The outside was covered with embossed foil, antiqued with black distress paint and then highlighted with primary elements "pumpkin spice". Washi tape finished off the edge at the back.

Urban Scrapbook September Kit

Oh, I have been a bad blogger...the weather outside was just delightful in August. It was hard to tear myself away from the new deck and bottles of wine last month. Haha.

Our kit this month at Urban Scrapbook is gorgeous. The pretty paper line "Indian Summer" from WeR Memory Keepers,  inspired me do create a dreamcatcher layout.

It started with one of my favorite photos. I tracked it back to www.79ideas.org for New Home Collection by H&M  

I can see myself being a rogue traveller enjoying the good life by the ocean in a vintage VW bus. Oh a girl can dream...

I cut the photo with a Silhouette file and matted it on a slightly offset shape to make it pop.

The dream catcher is another file cut and inked to match the layout. The little VW bus diecut is from Tattered Lace.  I rolled some paper beads and cut out some of flowers from one of the sheets included in the kit.

The metal feather (Maya Road) was painted and attached with a decorative jump ring (Tim Holtz)

The debossing folder, banners, letters, and leather cording are all in the kit this month.
