12 Tags of 2016 - December remix

welcome to December. Thank you for all the blog love last month. I was delighted to see my name on the winners list for the November remix.
Keeping up my format of 8x8 layouts, I had a lot of fun pulling this one together. You can check out the full detailed instructions over on Tim Holtz' blog here.

I used the old greenery strip. I'm not sure if it's discontinued or not, but it's a great die. I love the size of the cut outs.

Shadow press fail. I couldn't get the words to emboss properly, so, whatever, I made it work anyway. ( a little messy, but I tried)

mini blueprints stamps for my tiles.

love the greenery strip!!! I added a burlap bow.  I had 2 little reindeer on my desk, so I added them to my layout.

Crazy Coffee Birds

I love these Crazy Birds. They make me smile every time I look at them.
My inspiration for this card was actually found on Pinterest. You can see the original awesomeness here:

I made my caffeinated critters in a box card and added googly eyes to make them look even more jacked up on coffee.

The stamps are all from Tim Holtz with the exception of the sentiment, which is from Riley & Company.

I used the Sizzix Bigz die for the coffee to go and iced cappuccino.

Distress inks used were: peeled paint, walnut stain and vintage photo

I also used distress markers to color the birds - no idea how many different colors I used

And of course, black archival ink for the sentiment.

12 Days (or so) of Christmas Cards

Here's some "heavy metal"  Christmas cards for you.

Sizzix embossing folders and the foil paper from Ranger. The card on the left has a Spellbinders EF.

I used Tim Holtz' 3D star and the holiday greens thinlit die.

These 2 were made the same, only using white paper and the Simple Stories line.

I really love the way they turned out. Same style but a totally different look.

Warm and Cozy Christmas

Hi Everyone,
We received our December kits from Urban and once again, we were allowed to think outside the box and have fun designing any type of project.

Hahahaha, anyone that knows me and my passion for 3D paper art won't be surprised by my December submission

The paper line this month is from Carta Bella  "Warm and Cozy".  Gorgeous thick cardstock in rustic rich tones.

Here's what I did:
I constructed a shadow frame using 12x12 chipboard.  The sides are 2 inches deep. I covered the chipboard with mossy green paper and trimmed out the sides with paper from the kit.

Now that I had a base to work with, I went crazy with the Silhouette machine using papers included in the kit. I have used the following cut files from the Silhouette store:

The thermos is from Camp Smore kit thermos
but cut at 50 % size

The "wreath" around the deer head is a combination of Tim Holtz' Festive Greens  and a Martha Stewart punch 

Can you spot the frosted stars on the background? They were made with frosted film, die cut with Tim Holtz' stacked stars and stamped with his sweater background stamp. I used white Stayz on ink

Stickers from the kit help fill out the scene, as well as the mini blueprint stamps for the lantern and the snow shoes.

Time flies doesn't it? I really don't know where the years go. Anyway maybe I'm just getting old. When I was a kid, the summer seemed to go on forever, now as an adult, I want the time to slow down so I can enjoy hanging out and do nothing.  Anyway...I hope you enjoy my project. Let's have a look...

Those who know me, know that I absolutely love 3D projects. I have been working on this clock for a while. I was a cutting, layering fool. And for some reason my photos really weren't capturing the whole project very well, so apologies for the pics being a bit over exposed in places. (Grrrr)

Here is the inside view, lots of layered gears.

Here is a better view of the birds in flight wrapping around the clock. The outside was covered with embossed foil, antiqued with black distress paint and then highlighted with primary elements "pumpkin spice". Washi tape finished off the edge at the back.

12 tags of 2014 - July

Getting in just under the wire here, I made this tag a couple of weeks ago, but forgot to post it. I love the sea theme this month. I was excited to finally get the dies and embossing folders. It seemed like I waited forever for them to finally come in.

12 Tags of 2014 - April

Hi again,

I was beyond thrilled when I saw my name at the bottom of Tim Holtz' blog post for the March tag winners. Thank you all so much for the kind comments, they are kind and appreciated. Xo

On to April's tag...I had a lot of fun playing zigsaw puzzle with the frameworks die. You DO get a lot of little pieces to play with. I had a ton of "leftovers" on my cluttered desk, so I made a card with the "scraps".

I just love making paper roses with the tattered pinecone die. I saw the video a couple of years ago and have been making them that way ever since.

I didn't have a metal charm that Tim used on his tag, so I made my own with paper and remnant rubs.

Here is the card using "leftovers" more frameworks, pieces, mirror paper and you know those little snippets of paper that you cut off of your 12x12 patterned paper? Don't throw them away ( oh wait, we are all paper hoarders - disregard the throw away comment LOL) this little banner was perfect.

I did do the roses a little different on the card. I used the tattered floral movers and shapers die and assembled it as seen in another video by Tim.

Hi-biscus (Making the Cut)

Hi again,

I know, I know, another tropical card from me? Shocker.  I can't help it, I LOVE tropical stuff. Maybe because I lived in the tropics in my past life or something. Whatever the reason, I am drawn to hibiscus and frangipanni, palm trees and beaches.

The Monday challenge over at Simon Says Stamp is "making the cut". Use die cuts in your project. I have gorgeous hibiscus dies from Memory Box, Die-namics, and Sizzix (not used on this card). The flowers were cut out with the beautiful paper from Prima. Can you spot more use of dies? The cameo frame and HI are from Tim Holtz.

The background on the frame is a long story...Do you ever make something, hate it, dig it out of the trash and just keep throwing more stuff on it? Haha, that's the case here, I have no idea how I ended up with the final result but I really like it. Don't ask me what colors are on there because I really have no idea. Sadly, I will probably not be able to replicate it again. Let's call it "vintage tropical". Hehehe.

Twelve Tags of 2013 - July

Hi again

I have a quick post to share with you. I love the crackle stained technique that Tim posted for his tag this month. And the brayer technique? So cool, I need to practice a wee bit more with it though, I didn't really get the droplet effect with the stains but it's still a great way to lay down color on the background. I used the specialty stamping paper for my tag because I wanted a true color read of the green. 

Here are the colors I used on the tag: Gathered Twigs stain and ink, Walnut stain ink, Bundled Sage stain and ink, Broken China stain, Archival Jet Black ink, oh and I threw on some metallic stain for the base of the globe too.

I used the Tim Holtz set from Stampers Anonymous "Air Travel"

And the "Simple Sayings" set for the label and words. I found this great washi tape at Michaels with globes on it. Cool.

Here you can see the great crackle effect with the Rock Candy crackle paint on chipboard and the SS paper. The frame around the compass is a gadget gear with the center cut out ( and being cheap, I saved the middle hole and used it on the top of the tag) hahaha.
