12 Days of Christmas - Winter Fell Gently Over the Land

The final card this month was a last minute purchase from The Hungry JPEG
I try not to spend a lot of money on graphic files (because, trust me, my shopping cart can get a little out of control!) but as soon as I saw this one, I HAD to have it.
you can check out the bundle here
As before, I created the whole scene in Silhouette Studio. I drew a 5x7 rectangle first, to limit the size of my card.
I added a deer silhouette, fill-patterned him, and added a phrase to to front of the card.

Merry Christmas everyone, thank-you for taking time out of your busy days to visit me on the blog.
I will see you in January xo

12 Days of Christmas - Reindeer are always in Fashion

Merry Christmas my Deers!
I purchased this wonderful graphics pack from the Hungry jpeg
I created a pink subtle background and layered the deers in a "runway" pattern.
I love Silhouette Design studio for creating layered graphics. I don't have Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator (which I'm sure might be easier)
Quick, simple, and lots of fun.

see you soon - one more post for the "12 days of Christmas".

12 Days of Christmas - Nostalgia in a box

 Hello my friends
We are getting so close to Christmas, I don't know where the time is going.  I am certainly not ready yet, but somehow I manage to pull it off every year.
Aren't these fun?  When Tim Holtz premiered these back in the fall, I knew I wanted these box tops.
I didn't have the wooden boxes for the bottom, so I made my own with cardstock. (that's the most math I've done in a while LOL!)

I have a bunch of miniature things in my stash. The old sled and mini ornaments were perfect for this little box. The retro paper background is from Carta Bella.

I colored Santa and the reindeer with Copic markers and antiqued them with espresso distress paint.
This guy turned out pretty cool, same idea, I colored him with Copic markers and dabbed a little white paint on his neck area.
My other tropical project I made this year. Those flamingos are so cute standing on the mid century modern home. Image from Retro Christmas Card Company.
and finally, a jolly santa wishing you a Merry Christmas (print 'n cut image from Silhouette design store)

12 Days of Christmas - Jolly Jellyfish

hello again,
you didn't think I could go all season without making something tropical did you?  Hahaha, of course not.
I was inspired by a really pretty glass ornament I bought at Michael's. I wanted to make my own jellyfish ornaments, but I was trying to figure out the cut file that would work the best.
so this is what I came up with...
SVGCuts.com - Cotton Tail Village
I cut the top of the mushroom, embossed the panels and painted it with a gorgeous aqua/pink shimmery paint (Prima). A lunch time shopping trip to the local fabric store found me these great sequin trim pieces.
I added liquid pearls and some iridescent sequins to the "body"
I think these turned out pretty fabulous. They are pictured here on my Christmas tree.
See you soon

12 Days of Christmas - Block Letters Too

Here is part 2 of the block letter cards I made.
This time I cut everything out in white cardstock and added distress inks to color the base of the cards.
I love using fun pictures on my cards. Look at that dog - he's adorable.

ok, I am on a roll, slowly catching up (I think)  see you soon.

12 Days of Christmas - Block Letters

ahh I am so behind!!! Working full-time and getting this stupid cold has put my blogging time out of sync.  Anyway...

I cut these block letter cards on my Silhouette Machine, after designing the layout in Silhouette Studio.  I offset the word to create a card base.
The O was cut out separately so I could make a "frame" for the picture.
I used my favorite embossing folder beaded garland to add a little texture to the card
Lastly, I cut out a holly shape just to embellish the card.

here it is again in a different color.  See you soon...

12 Days of Christmas - Happy Christmas Muggle

Harry Potter hold a special place in my heart. I used to pull my girls out of school in the afternoon, so we could go to the new Harry Potter movies on opening day.
The base of the card is from Christmas Box Cards.  I used the plain box card file.
I made the Quidditch rings in Silhouette Studio.
The stag "Patronus" is a die cut and the rest of the graphics were printed off from some images via Google.
I have given the card to my new co-worker who is a huge Harry Potter geek like me. We nerds have to stick together! hahahaha
.
I realised after I gave it to her, that this was the only picture I took of it. Sorry it's not the best quality, but I wanted to share it anyway.
Thanks for looking, see you tomorrow!

12 Days of Christmas - Happy Hanukkah

This year was an opportunity to make something for Hanukkah.  Our team lead at work is from Israel. With all the Christmas decorating and festivities at the office, I didn't want him to be left out. So...
I adapted the same snow globe file (see yesterday's post) into a winter themed Hanukkah card.
Everything was cut out in the pastel blue paper. It was actually perfect because the back was white.
I embossed a wood grain pattern on the base then cut the words and menorah from some cut files I purchased from the Silhouette Design Store.

I think it turned out very well, AND I love the versatility of this file from SVGCuts.com

See you tomorrow!

12 Days of Christmas - Coca-Cola Bears

Happy Saturday.
This one is for all the Coca-cola lovers out there.
The box card is a cut file from_SVGCuts.com_(y'all know already) Christmas Box Cards with a bit of modification.
I printed the polar bears and coke bottles, cut those out, then assembled the box. I added the bottles afterwards to mimic a 6 pack chilling in the snow drifts.

I really love this card, I made it for my manager, who is a hard core cola drinker. I guess we all have our addictions. hahaha

Merry Christmas Coke lovers!

12 Days of Christmas - Heirloom Christmas Tree

Hello and welcome to my 12 days of Christmas projects.
Let's start with Mary's Heirloom Christmas Tree from SVGCuts.com.
What a wonderful project. I remember making ceramic ones with my Mom years ago.
I love the base too. I kept the vintage/retro theme with images from Retro Christmas Card Company here.
My bulbs were just a wee bit too small for the holes, so I used some Glass bead gel (Liquitex) over the areas and inserted the bulbs while it was wet.  They are glued in nice and firm now.
The project called for a candle lamp, but I didn't have one so... I improvised.  I took some twinkle lights (battery operated) wrapped them around a paper tube and inserted it into the base. You can't see the tube when the tree is on so I think it's a win/win.
Thanks Mary for a great project, you know I love you!  see you tomorrow!

Urban Scrapbook's Monthly Challenge Kit - December

Welcome to December! My favorite month of the year.
This month's kit from Urban Scrapbook, features Photoplay papers - A Mad Plaid Christmas.
The kit includes some wonderful extras like the foil die cut ornaments and frames, sequins, ribbon and the wood cut pieces.
I used foam tape on the back of some of the stickers to give the layout more dimension.
What about the border around the page?  Scored and sanded.
You can check out the rest of the festive layouts over at the Urban Scrapbook blog here.
Thanks for stopping by, I have been super busy making Christmas cards and decorations. Come back soon for the reveals. Cheers.
