Urban Scrapbook's Monthly Challenge Kit - March

Hi! I actually used pictures of me this month!
This month's kit at Urban Scrapbook features Vicki Boutin's paper line "All the Good Things".
You can see the kit here.
I loved the one piece of paper so I cut it on a diagonal to create a double page layout.
the left page uses the transparent overlay under the photo, as well as the word "love" on top.
I added a bit more color with a circle/bubble die from Memory Box
my script was computer generated, then traced onto the paper with a gold detail pen.
The right side page included some of the goodies included with the kit - flowers and charms and pins (oh my). Oh, and I added liquid pearls to the diagonal cut line.
We had a great night on the beach. My annual trek to Thailand always creates new experiences and new friends.
thanks for stopping in, see you soon.

Urban Scrapbook's Monthly Challenge Kit - December

Welcome to December! My favorite month of the year.
This month's kit from Urban Scrapbook, features Photoplay papers - A Mad Plaid Christmas.
The kit includes some wonderful extras like the foil die cut ornaments and frames, sequins, ribbon and the wood cut pieces.
I used foam tape on the back of some of the stickers to give the layout more dimension.
What about the border around the page?  Scored and sanded.
You can check out the rest of the festive layouts over at the Urban Scrapbook blog here.
Thanks for stopping by, I have been super busy making Christmas cards and decorations. Come back soon for the reveals. Cheers.

Urban Scrapbook's Monthly Challenge Kit - October

Greetings all...
Pop on over to the Urban Scrapbook blog. There you can check out the design team's layouts for our spooktacular October kit.  Simple Stories - Spellbound.
For my layout, I used an image I purchased from Alpha Stamps. I printed it twice and cut away the window sections so that I could layer it.
The skull and word "poison" were glittered using the jar of sparkly goodness that is included in the kit.  I added some twisty gnarled branches (Tim Holtz) and some purple and lime green foil to the layout..
thanks for stopping by and having a look. I will see you soon. Christmas is coming!!! woohoo!

Urban Scrapbook's Monthly Challenge Kit - April

Hello April!
It's time to reveal my layout for the Urban Scrapbook's monthly scrapbook kit.
I love all the fresh spring colors.
Everything on this layout is in the kit this month, with the exception of the "stitching" on the edges.
I don't own a sewing machine, so I used a zig zag stamp (Tim Holtz). I stamped the image using the new Distress Oxide inks. Love those ink pads!
The little word blocks (vertical on the bottom) were colored with a green Copic marker.

Be sure to check Urban's blog for more page reveals from our fab design team!
Happy Spring!

Urban Scrapbook's Monthly Challenge Kit - March

Hello everyone:
It's time for the reveal of Urban Scrapbook's kit for March. This month features beautiful and girly paper from American Crafts "Hazelwood" line. Please pop over to the link here to check out what our amazing design team is creating with this kit.
As always, it starts with a picture (based on colors pulled from the papers). This pic is of my fabulous daughter. They spend countless hours creating and sewing costumes for comic book conventions. Seriously, I don't even have a clue about some of the characters they dress up as. It's a whole other world...
I fussy cut the sheet of butterflies, and set those aside.
I knew I wanted to create a dimensional layout, so I made a simple box card. I scored and folded the paper. I took a large punch (EK) to add a little more interest to the box.
After much thought (and many cups of coffee) I figured out a way to add it to the layout.
I cut two slits the width of the box, then slid the whole thing underneath the second layer of paper.
tip: I usually put Sookwang tape on the corners and middle of the layering paper. That way, you can go back and tuck things underneath the layer.
Then it was just a process of gluing the butterflies over the page.
I added the bag of goodies (buttons, sequins etc.) afterwards to fill in some empty spots
The little eyestopper below was created by spreading liquid adhesive and pouring the sequins and pearls over the wet glue.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look, and remember to pick up your kit at Urban Scrapbook before they sell out! See you next time!

Urban Scrapbook's Monthly Challenge Kit - November

Hi everyone! It's time for the November kit over at Urban Scrapbook! This month features Echo Park's "I Love Family" collection. Head on over the the blog to see what else is in store. <<see what I did there? hehehe...
As always, I started with the colors from the papers. The blue pumpkin was a perfect fit for the focal image. Here is the link for photo credit. Hexagons were my repeated pattern from one of the papers in the kit. I added some images in there too, that were printed from my Silhouette Studio software.
Got washi tape? I tore long strips and twisted them. It sticks to itself, and is a great cheat way to make "branches". It sprinkled some German Glass Glitter on them to give it a little more bling.
Extras that are not in the kit that I used were:
Peacock feathers distress ink
Frameworks die (I used as a stencil for the background)
Thinlits Mixed Media die (stencil)
Letters A U N (which I had in my stash of sticky letters)

see you soon, I have been in full Christmas card mode around here.

Urban Scrapbook's Monthly Challenge Kit - October

I am so excited for October...October 23 actually. So many of us love the colors of Autumn and the Halloween decorations. I wanted to capture that in my double page layout this month for Urban Scrapbook.
The kit includes the new Halloween line from Bo Bunny as well as some matching solid cardstock.
My left page features an image I found on Pinterest. It reflects the typical October feelings - pumpkins, dressing up for Halloween and just a little creepiness.
The right side is My October.  The Walking Dead is, hands down, my all time favorite TV show. Sundays are an event for me. I watch the show and the "Talking Dead" afterwards.
If you don't watch the show, you will have no idea what my page means, but OMG, Negan is going to beat someone to death with his barbed wired bat, endearingly named "Lucille". It's terrifying because we don't know WHO it's going to be...
thanks for stopping by, and, as always, you can check out the other layouts made by the awesome team over at Urban Scrapbook blog.

Urban Scrapbook Monthly Challenge - April

Hello my friends, thanks for stopping by, today we have the beautiful  kit available at Urban Scrapbook for the month of April. It features a feminine selection of pinks and gold from Kaisercraft "All that Glitters" collection.  The embossed butterfly paper adds a bit of whimsy to the page and shows off my beautiful daughter's graduation dress.

I stamped a random dot stamp and embossed it with sticky embossing powder from Ranger.
I then added some pretty pink foil from Heidi Swapp.
It isn't a complicated layout, but I love the final result.
You can check out all of the design team's layouts on the Urban Scrapbook's blog here.

Mid Summer's Night Blog Blitz - Day 5

Welcome to day 5 of my summer projects blog blitz.
Today's pics are featured at Urban Scrapbook in my hometown - Edmonton.
Our monthly page kit always includes an abundance of supplies to get creative with. This time it features "Lemonade Stand" by Bo Bunny. This line is a favorite of mine ( gee I wonder why) Look at these great colors! My Faves!!!
The map of Thailand is a cut file from Silhouette. Memory Box, Dees Distinctively and IO dies were also used in the layout.
Yes those are my feet in the pic chillin' at the sweet man's house on Ko Siboya, Thailand - our second home.

The kits are so full of goodies, I had enough to do another layout.
More dies and the 3D orchid die from IO. Once you figure out how the flower goes together, it looks really cool. My first thought was " how does this thing even work?" Luckily they have a youtube video on assembly.
Thanks for looking, you can check out the other July pages from the Urban team here:
