Cage the Christmas Cardinal

One more...
SVGCuts Playful Parlour kit
The birdcage was super easy and quick to put together
It needed a Christmas feel, so I used a cardinal from the Silhouette online store

12 Days (or so) of Christmas Cards

Ok so here is the last of my Christmas cards I made this year.
I wanted a cute woodlands theme.
I used the flowers from Petaloo to embellish the scenes with some additional die cuts for interest.
If you look closely, you can spot some of Tim Holtz's white rub-ons.
The bird image is another Astrid McLean freebie and the deer image is from here.

Merry Christmas everyone.  Have a spectacular time with friends and family. Keep the creative juices flowing right into the new year.

12 Days (or so) of Christmas Cards

Hello, I am almost through my Christmas Card posts.
Guess which paper I used this time?  Hahaha yeah, Simple Stories. Do you see a pattern forming here?

The window stamp is from Darkroom Door.  I stamped it on a nice wood grain paper with Potting Soil archival ink. I embellished the sides with memory box die cuts and those wonderful burlap pointsettia flowers from Petaloo.

The images behind the window come from a wonderful talented lady - Astrid McLean. They were a free download from her blog site.  Thank you Astrid, I follow your blog and I love your art. You can check out her stuff here.

12 Days (or so) of Christmas Cards

Here's another card for you to check out
This one was quite simple as the silhouette machine did most of the work, I did emboss the cut out with  beautiful metallic green and ruby embossing powders.
Merry Christmas is a die cut from Tim Holtz's word thinlits
I couldn't get enough of the simple stories paper this year and I believe the wood grain paper is from MME
Thanks for looking, see you tomorrow...

12 Days (or so) of Christmas Cards

Hi everyone,
here is another card I'm sharing with you
the deer are  from the Silhouette store.
On the white one, I left it as is and matted it on an embossed background (love that embossing folder!!)
The stamp is from Indigo Blu which I stamped with dark brown Fluid Chalk ink and highlighted with Mustard Seed distress ink

The brown deer was embossed with Chocolate Twinkle E.P. and I added a couple die cut snowflakes from Impression Obsession
Hope you like them.

12 Days (or so) of Christmas Cards

Here's a rustic Christmas card I made that was inspired by a Pottery Barn ornament. I used a Silhouette cut file for the front and altered each letter in a different way.

N - faux rust
O - woodgrain paper with stamped sweater pattern
E - faux metal plate with an embossing folder
L - distress crackle paint
Thanks for looking, see you next time

12 Days (or so) of Christmas Cards

Hello,
Another Christmas Card for me to share,
The sled is a Silhouette file and I embellished with Tim Holtz's festive greens diecuts.
A little mini ornament and Tim's vintage skate charm add a little more dimension and interest.

12 Days (or so) of Christmas Cards

Hi,
So I was inspired by the bokeh look of some pictures I saw on Pinterest. I wanted to try and replicate them.
I used the Tim Holtz snowflake and embossing folder set (love it!) along with his snowflake stamp set.
I then dug DEEP into my stash of stamps and found some circles and starbursts.
I used milled lavender, faded jeans and white Stayz on inks

I am really happy with the result. Thanks for looking, see you next time.

12 Days (or so) of Christmas Cards

Here's some "heavy metal"  Christmas cards for you.
Sizzix embossing folders and the foil paper from Ranger. The card on the left has a Spellbinders EF.
I used Tim Holtz' 3D star and the holiday greens thinlit die.
These 2 were made the same, only using white paper and the Simple Stories line.
I really love the way they turned out. Same style but a totally different look.

12 (or so) Days of Christmas Cards

I wanted to start sharing some of the Christmas cards I made this year. the first one is a re-do of one of my favorite from last year.  The original was inspired by Jan Hobbins' configurations book she did for Sizzix. You can check out my original post here.

I used a different map paper this time but kept the overall design and color scheme the same.

Happy Christmas! Santa is coming soon.

Vintage Sled

Hi everyone:
Can you tell Christmas projects are my favorite things? I made this "vintage sled" a little while ago and it is hanging in my living room.
I wanted to buy an old sled off ebay, but then of course, I thought "I can make one"

I started by enlarging a silhouette cut file here to 12x24. Your can see the tape line where I joined the two pieces.
I then reinforced the sled with chip board and painted it
Next I added long rectangles of cardstock to create the metal rails and painted them silver. I actually ended up gluing silver tissue paper over them to add more strength to the base and give it a more aged look as well.
once the basic construction was complete, I decorated the front with vintage looking ornaments like these vintage skates (another Silhouette file) here

I made a lantern from one of my SVG kits (of course right?) this one is from the Camp Smore  Lantern

lots of wintery greens and a pretty bow complete the piece
thanks for taking the time to visit my blog.  I hope you are enjoying all my rustic Christmas decorations.
See you soon...

A Gingerbread House with no Calories

Hi there,

We eat too much during the holidays, at least I know I do. I have a special treat for you. It's a gingerbread house entirely made from paper and glue.

I made the Haunted Cottage  back in October, once that one was done, I thought it would look super cute done as a gingerbread house. You can check out the original design here: Haunted Cottage SVG kit

The paper I used was from Simple Stories. I love the bokeh look on the paper!
I made the "sugar sticks" with a skewer, Yes Glue, and seed beads

I added the cute little deer to the front porch and stamped my vellum with white pigment ink to give the look of sugar stained glass.  The candy canes?  Upside down "J's" cut on the Silhouette.
I found these great sticky "gum drops" at the Dollar Tree. I tinted some with alcohol inks.
Thanks for looking today, I will be back with some Christmas card projects

Rustic Ski Lodge

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share yet another Christmas decoration I made this year. It seems I am really into rustic things this time around. I had it in my mind to make a ski lodge, but I needed to adapt one of the cut files I had. Now, never modifying any designs before, it was certainly a "learning curve" I wanted to add a balcony to the lodge, but that meant I needed French Doors instead of a window. After many hours of ungrouping and welding and editing, I managed to incorporate the look I wanted.
You can check out the original look of the house here:

Here is my finished project:
Lots of printing patterned paper. The "logs" are in the silhouette program already. I just fiddled around with the shape and size. If you go into patterns, there is a jpeg called "poles". Draw a rounded rectangle and fill pattern in. Instant logs!
The main construction was paper from Bo Bunny's new winter line, "Altitude"
The truck and signs are actually stickers I had left over from our December Kits at Urban Scrapbook
"Warm and Cozy" by Carta Bella.

I would love to visit a lodge like this, I wouldn't do much skiing, but I'd sit by the fire and drink hot chocolate and Baileys.
Thanks for looking, keep warm and cozy. See you soon

All Aboard the Christmas Express

It's Christmas Time! My very favorite time of year.
I've been working on Christmas stuff for the past 6 weeks.  I've made a lot of  decorations with my Silhouette and SVGCuts  this year.

this one is from the North Pole Express kit. You can check it out of purchase it here:
North Pole Express
I used a white cardstock for the base of the train and edged it all with Silver Metallic Ink.
The panels were then added using the WeR Memory Keepers "Indian Summer" paper

some snowflake embellishments on the cars. and windows
rub-ons for the signage

and a little bling bling for the tops and sides

Hope you enjoyed my trip on the Christmas Express.
Stay tuned for more Christmas projects...
