Abandoned Phone Booth

Hello? I think we have a bad connection. In fact, I don't think this phone works at all.

Check out my abandoned phone booth. This project is from the "Travel the World" kit over at SVGCuts.com. As soon as I saw the kit, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

I constructed a phone out of cardstock and mounted it inside the booth. I love the grungy feel of this project.

Abandoned Too

Urban decay, or, abandoned - the sequel...

I had so much fun with the rusted out vintage bus, that I couldn't stop. This time, I started from scratch and made the bus and trailer cut out at 75% of the original size. I used black cardstock to really make the rust effect stand out.

Most of the moss and greenery were purchased at Michael's, and the background picture I found on Pinterest.

Abandoned

Hello again,
This project started with an idea...I've been looking at a lot of abandoned images on Pinterest lately. I love the desolate rusted man made objects taken over by nature.
Prima - more specifically - Finnabair has a new product called rust effects, and let me just say, this stuff is AWESOME. 
I had a camper van, made out of paper, hanging around in my den. So the thought process was to make it look like an abandonded vehicle in the woods. (by the way, you can check out the actual SVG kit from which I made the van here)

The effect on the roof was made by applying crackle paste and then some dry brushing of distress paint after it was dry

just look at that grungy rusty goodness - so cool...

Bloom Girl

Hi Everyone,
this summer has been spectacular. I haven't been blogging because I am enjoying the hot summer evenings on the deck. I will never ever complain that it's too hot.

I made this pretty mixed media canvas a little while ago. I wanted to play with my Prima Bloom Girl stencil and the new colorburst powders.

I colored in the stencil outline with a few different mediums.  I sponged Worn Lipstick on the skin, then colored the rest with Copic and Chameleon markers.

I used various trinkets and paper clay elements to build my background, then gessoed the whole thing white.

I had fun "puffing" the powder onto the canvas. The color is so intense when you add water!

I placed the colored Bloom Girl on top after everything was dry and popped up the butterflies. You can see the detail better from the side angle.

Urban Scrapbook's Monthly Challenge - May

Hello my friends,

This month's kit at Urban Scrapbook is a beautiful collection from Prima. The gorgeous wood patterned paper is perfect for a rustic or nature inspired photo. The complimentary colors in green, purple and a metallic rose gold really make the the page shine.

I used my Silhouette machine to cut the feather and birds, saved the cut outs and mounted them on top for extra embellishments  on the page.

"Bird Song"(Graphic 45) was stamped in archival ink over a lightly gessoed chipboard piece included in the kit.

I would love to say I took the picture, but I didn't I found it on Pinterest. However, I have been to Hanoi Vietnam and it reminded me of the song birds hanging in the storefronts. Here is the link to the picture...

Distress colors used were: peeled paint, antiqued bronze, milled lavender

I splattered some Color Shine spray on the page as well in Chartreuse, Purple and Bronzer.

Isn't She Lovely?

I wanted to share this card I made with you.  When I saw the Prima stamp hanging on the rack, she spoke to me. I couldn't wait to stamp the image and color it in.

I used my Copics and Shinhan Touch markers to colour and blend and blend and bl....well, you get the idea. Of course, the reason why she "spoke to me" was that the stamp seemed very tropical to me. So I added frangipanni flowers to her hair, using a memory box die in various sizes. I added a swirly flourish as well to tie in the colours .

Recognise the background paper? Upcycled packaging from the Prima packaging. I don't throw anything away. (lol)

Hi-biscus (Making the Cut)

Hi again,

I know, I know, another tropical card from me? Shocker.  I can't help it, I LOVE tropical stuff. Maybe because I lived in the tropics in my past life or something. Whatever the reason, I am drawn to hibiscus and frangipanni, palm trees and beaches.

The Monday challenge over at Simon Says Stamp is "making the cut". Use die cuts in your project. I have gorgeous hibiscus dies from Memory Box, Die-namics, and Sizzix (not used on this card). The flowers were cut out with the beautiful paper from Prima. Can you spot more use of dies? The cameo frame and HI are from Tim Holtz.

The background on the frame is a long story...Do you ever make something, hate it, dig it out of the trash and just keep throwing more stuff on it? Haha, that's the case here, I have no idea how I ended up with the final result but I really like it. Don't ask me what colors are on there because I really have no idea. Sadly, I will probably not be able to replicate it again. Let's call it "vintage tropical". Hehehe.
